The Crown's Matt Smith admits that he 'feels sorry' for Meghan Markle

On the very same day that their happy engagement news was announced, searches for the name "Meghan Markle" increased by 2208 per cent on PORNHUB.

It comes little over a week after Harry announced he was set to tie to knot with the Suits actress, 36, and the pair are expected to Wednesday in May next year.

"I feel sorry for her", Smith told Vanity Fair.

Matt plays reluctant royal consort Prince Philip in Netflix drama "The Crown", which no doubt triggered his compassionate response to the engagement.

Although Markle will be spending Christmas with her 33-year-old royal fiancé - and is expected to be joining the Queen at Sandringham - it's speculated that she's now traveling the globe and visiting friends and family before settling into her new life at Kensington Palace. "Life as she knows it is gone".

Smith has claimed he feels "sorry" for Prince Harry's fiancée Meghan Markle ahead of their 2018 wedding.

The first series of "The Crown" saw Prince Philip resent being forced to stop working as a naval officer when he married Queen Elizabeth, with the royal also depicted as being unhappy with living in his wife's shadow and not being allowed to give his children his surname.

But Smith, 35, admitted there was still plenty for Ms Markle to look forward to, adding: 'She's marring the prince of Britain - how exciting for her'.

'You realise that as you have access, or a voice that people are willing to listen to, [it comes with] a lot of responsibility, which I take seriously'.

On Tuesday evening, Prince Harry attended a special carol service at St. Luke's Church as it was a fundraising event for the Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Trust.
