Quake of magnitude 5 strikes North India, tremors felt in Delhi-NCR

Natural disaster jolted Delhi-NCR area tonight at 8:50 pm.

Tremors were also reported from Uttaranchal, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said the quake originated 121 km east of Dehradun in Uttarakhand.

This is considered to be the second quake in Uttarakhand in the past 24 hours as a 3.3 magnitude natural disaster was reported on Tuesday only in the state. The strong tremors have jolted whole North India with the intensity of 5.5 on the Ritcher scale. Officials said that no immediate loss of life and property has been reported from across the state. More updates on the natural disaster is still awaited.

Uttarakhand comes in an area which is more prone to natural disaster. The frictions led to movement along the fault lines that releases energy; causes the natural disaster.
