Protective order issued against OU running back Rodney Anderson

A woman filed a protective order Monday against Oklahoma running back Rodney Anderson, the leading rusher for the College Football Playoff-bound Sooners.

The woman claims she was raped by Anderson at her apartment a few weeks ago.

The school said Monday it is aware of the police investigation.

After details of the allegations surfaced, Anderson's attorney, Derek Chance of Oklahoma City, released a lengthy statement in which he described the allegations as "patently false".

As Jake Trotter of ESPN.com notes, the woman said in the filing that she was drinking at a bar on November 16 when she met Anderson, whom she had never met before. While she had meant to take an Uber ride home, the woman, she claimed, allowed Anderson to take her home at the insistence of his friends.

The petition says Anderson, 21, walked the woman home after meeting her for the first time at a bar and drinking.

According to the filing, the woman said she tried to get away and put her clothes on, but Anderson followed her and asked what she was doing. No charges have been filed against Anderson as of yet. "However, there are those accused of sexual assault which they unequivocally did not commit - as is the case for Mr. Anderson", the statement reads.

A hearing regarding the protective order is scheduled for December 18 at 10 a.m.in Cleveland County. "We are confident that when authorities have all of the information surrounding this circumstance, Mr. Anderson will be completely exonerated of any wrongdoing, and he looks forward to the conclusion of this investigation so he can focus on his obligations as a student-athlete".

Chance also said that the woman was trying to pursue a relationship with Anderson after November 16 and filed the protective order only after he rebuffed her.

Oklahoma faces Georgia in a College Football Playoffs semifinal on January 1 at the Rose Bowl.

The Sooners are fortunate that that they have two highly talented running backs like Sermon and Adams to bring in if Anderson is unavailable to play. Mixon is now with the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals.
