Trump Tells Moore To 'Go Get 'Em' In Phone Call

President Donald Trump formally endorsed Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore on Monday, following a phone call between the two men.

Trump tweeted: "We need his vote on stopping crime, illegal immigration, Border Wall, Military, Pro Life, V.A., Judges 2nd Amendment and more". In backing Moore, Trump cited Democratic obstruction on the tax reform bill.

Trump's endorsement followed weeks of silence and a tepid statement about the race.

Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Judge Roy Moore speaks during a campaign event at the Walker Springs Road Baptist Church on November 14, 2017 in Jackson, Alabama.

The full-throated support from the president comes with just eight days until the state's special election to fill the seat left empty when Jeff Sessions became attorney general.Trump defended Moore last month against the allegations of sexual misconduct.

Moore's campaign says Trump called Moore a "fighter" and expressed his eagerness at having Moore fighting for his agenda in Washington. Many national Republicans have called on Moore to step aside in the wake of multiple sexual assault and harassment allegations.

Most of the reported allegations relate to when Moore was a prosecutor in his mid-30s and sought to pursue relationships with teens.

The survey - published by CBS News over the weekend - shows Moore has a six point lead over Democrat Doug Jones ahead of the December 12th election.

I'll get this out the way: If you're in Alabama and you want to vote for Roy Moore, vote for Roy Moore. "We don't need a liberal person in there, a Democrat", Trump said. "It's awful on the military". By November 21, Trump was defending Moore, saying that Moore's denial of his accusers' accounts should be respectfully considered.

He has denied the allegations.

The poll also found 71 percent of Alabama Republicans believe the allegations of misconduct against Moore are completely false.
