'Jersey Shore' Revived at MTV With Original Cast

MTV has just announced it will be bringing together a number of the franchise's original cast members for "Jersey Shore Family Vacation".

We knew Jersey Shore nostalgia was in the air when MTV introduced Floribama Shore.

One star noticeably absent from the list, however, was Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola - and fans were quick to comment about it on social media. The unscripted show about the Garden State's most party-hardy group of friends peaked in 2011 when it averaged 9 million viewers per episode.

Five years after MTV's Jersey Shore closed up shop, the breakout reality hit is returning to the Viacom-owned cable network. However, it gave birth to a number of spin-off series, which was a big proof of its success.

The news comes just months after E! reunited the Jersey Shore cast for a road trip.

Meanwhile, "Floribama Shore" is an eight-episode reality series that will tell the story of eight young adults who get to spend their summer on the Gulf Coast, Panama City Beach. That program made its debut last night and, in between drama-filled segments of sun-soaked twentysomethings doing body shots on a tiki bar, there was an announcement that, if you thought this was the end of this particular TV rebirth, will have you taking at least one extra cold shower.

When MTV announced it was airing Floribama Shore, a Jersey Shore spinoff set in the South, the original cast of Jersey Shore didn't seem too into the idea.
