HTC's Unlocked U11 is Now Getting Upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo

The HTC U11 Plus already comes with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed. It is November now and as expected, the Taiwanese company has announced the availability of the Oreo update on the U11 starting November 27. In the reply thread to his tweet, Mo confirms that the U11 Life will also get the Oreo update.

If you have the unlocked variant of the HTC U11 you can manually check for the update by going into Settings About Software updates Check now. Mr. Versi didn't specify which countries will be prioritized by the upcoming rollout and how long is the entire process expected to take, though Android 8.0 Oreo may not be available on all unlocked units of the device until early 2018. HTC seems to be on the right track, as it already released the update in its homeland, Taiwan, and the U.S. is already getting the update too. Besides, LG G6 users will have to wait for some more time until they get the taste of Oreo.

With Oreo on your phone, your world will be opened up to native Picture-in-Picture, notification dots, autofill, and much more.

A month after delivering the latest experience on the Xperia XZ Premium, Sony has started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update for its Xperia XZ and Xperia XZs. Now it is the turn of the HTC U11. The 10, Ultra and u11 life will receive the update. It will come to the unlocked version of last year's flagship HTC 10, too. The upcoming launch is understood to be gradual in nature, as is usually the case with over-the-air updates for contemporary smartphones. You can check its availability on your smartphone by visiting the System updates option from the Settings menu.
