Jurgen Klopp Explains Argument With Sadio Mane Following Chelsea Game

They did not play in the same team on Saturday as Jurgen Klopp rotated his squad in advance of another busy fortnight but it is clear that Sadio Mane and Mo Salah represent the future.

It was a unusual line-up that left fans scratching their heads, but Klopp almost got away with it thanks to the ever-dependable Mohamed Salah, who popped up in the second half to the opening goal of the game.

Shortly after the final whistle, Mane was seen arguing with Klopp on the pitch and the Liverpool manager attempted to diffuse the situation by putting his arm around the forward.

Senegal worldwide Mane, who has scored three goals from eight Premier League appearances this season, was surprisingly demoted to the bench for the encounter against defending champions Chelsea.

Klopp, whose team are fifth and 11 points behind City, said there was no reason for his side to even be thinking about Pep Guardiola's men.

Klopp said: "I was angry because we wanted to change the system and the referee didn't give us the opportunity".

'He said to me that Mo [Salah] wanted to come into the position but Mo had 90 minutes in his legs.

Jurgen Klopp has surprised everyone with his selection, with a rare start for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as Liverpool host Chelsea at Anfield.

"It's not a big thing, we could have done it in the dressing room, it would have been the same thing".

"He wants to go out there and show how good he is and I think that's his frustration there, from my eyes reading into that". "Everything is sorted immediately and that's it".
