SEGA Announces Valkyria Chronicles 4, Debuts New Trailer

Sega has announced that Valkyria Chronicles 4 is happening. It follows new characters Claude Wallace and Riley Miller, soldiers in the Edinburgh Army who are assigned to Operation: Northern Cross, a desperate offensive created to capture the heavily-fortified Imperial capital in order to bring an end to the war.

The new game will take place in the same timeframe as the first game, Valkyria Chronicles, but it will feature a brand new cast of characters to follow as the Second Europan War between the Atlantic Federation and Autocratic Eastern Imperial Alliance rages on. The main protagonist is squad leader Claude Wallace. The "BLiTZ" battle system will make a return with some enhancements as well as an entirely new class - the grenadier - keeping the action fresh but familiar. Plus, fight the imperial threat with more units on larger-scale maps than ever before. Inspired by watercolor compositions, the CANVAS Graphics Engine blends visual elements of reality and imagination to create an expressive world filled with colorful emotions.

Valkyria fans rejoice, Valkyria Chronicles 4 is real and it's releasing in 2018. The last game, Valkyria Chronicles III, was only released for the PSP in Japan back in 2011. Visually, it manages to retain the art style for the series and looks better than its predecessors, although it is still not as impressive for a current generation game. The game is not yet rated by the ESRB. The soundtrack will be composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto.

Valkyria Chronicles 4, the newest installment in the long-running Valkyria saga, is making its worldwide debut next year in 2018.
