Some AT&T wireless customers in western Kentucky have reported problems with their service.

DownDetector.com showed outages around the US on Wednesday and Thursday.

DownDetector.com, which monitors outages, said customers across the country reported outages, including in Houston, New York and San Francisco.

In a statement, AT&T said it was "aware of an issue affecting some users' ability to make certain wireless calls".

Outages sometimes happen to the best of the world's mobile carriers, but when they're as widespread as AT&T's latest blackout, customers tend to get more than a little mad.

AT&T's Twitter account has received hundreds of calls for service Wednesday afternoon, with a high of 1,200 reports at 5 p.m. If the issues persist, at least for the time being, there's also the option to place calls over your Wi-Fi network thanks to AT&T's Wi-Fi calling feature.

Users in the Merced area have complained of problems making calls.
