Hitman TV Series in the Works, John Wick Creator Onboard

Hulu is developing a Hitman TV series with John Wick creator Derek Kolstad.

According to Deadline, Hulu is aiming for Hitman to become a flagship series at the streaming service, with a goal of creating an even more accurate adaptation of the game series than previous onscreen incarnations have afforded.

Kolstad, who wrote the first two critically-acclaimed John Wick films and the upcoming third installment, will serve as an executive producer on the new Hitman series.

Fox 21 Television Studios and Hulu have teamed up to bring a Hitman TV Series into the world. The 2015 follow-up movie, Hitman: Agent 47, did even worse and only received nine percent on the rating website.

This is not the first time the series has gone outside of gaming. It previously confirmed that a new Hitman is coming. 2007's Hitman, starring a weirdly cast Timothy Olyphant, was goofy fun but not particularly in keeping with what the series excelled at. Since he already knows how to write characters who happen to assassinate others well, it makes sense that this pilot will be much more in-tune with fans of both the last game and the series as a whole.

Some people point out one of the reasons why the two movies failed was because of an excessive amount of violence, which conflicts with the main premise of the game, which is stealth.

Hitman has been a huge success, selling over 25 million copies of its game since it was released in 2000.
