Apple's £999 iPhone X suffering from 'crackly' audio, some users complain

Nov 14, 2017, 00:42

Several iPhone X users had complained about unresponsive display issue in cold weather earlier last week, and now, there are reports that the iPhone X display is developing a vertical green line on the edge of the display. So, the iPhone X Plus screen will be a full inch larger than Apple's current largest screen. To be more precise, the iPhone X's Samsung supplied OLED display has trouble with sudden cold.

Kuo expects next year to again include three iPhone models with the premium model boasting a 6.5-inch OLED display. Not to forget the screen burn-in issue with Google Pixel 2 XL which Google fixed in a recent update as it turned out to be a software issue. One such report claimed that the iPhone X showed this problem at a temperature of -20°C, which caused only 20 percent of the touch inputs on the screen to be detected.

The main thing to take away from this information is that the iPhone X design seems to be the future of iPhone, for now, and that Apple will be releasing a plus sized version, and a budget friendly version, alongside the 2nd Gen iPhone X next year. However, some of iPhone X users who reported the issue on forums confirm that Apple is replacing the affected units free of cost. Apple has confirmed this issue and says it will address it in a software update.

In fact, Kuo also provided a few more details about the two OLED phones. According to the complaints, when used as a speakerphone at high volumes, the iPhone X earpiece speaker can buzz or crackle. The users are calling it as "Green Line of Death". The smartphone also offers a new all-glass unibody construction with wireless charging capability.

Apple appears to be replacing handsets that are returned to its stores and are found to have problems, but that's probably not a whole lot of comfort to anyone that just handed over £999 or more for a new phone. Replacing a cracked iPhone X display will cost $279; if the back is cracked as well, the fix bill rises to a whopping $549.
