Former Trump adviser Page met Russian officials in 2016 Moscow trips

Congress has been investigating possible Trump campaign collusion with the Kremlin for almost 10 months, but a top Senate Democrat says she has still not seen evidence to support the allegation.

Seperately, Sessions is due to appear in a closed session before the House Intelligence Committee on November 14, a source familiar with that panel's plans said.

The House Intelligence Committee Monday night released a 243-page transcript of his lengthy appearance behind closed doors with its Russian Federation probe.

The transcript of the six-hour interview confirms that Page invoked his Fifth Amendment privilege against turning over to the panel certain documents - including those involving his July 2016 trip to Russian Federation - for two reasons.

Schiff told the AP that his committee is probing "anyone and everyone affiliated with the Trump campaign" and the interactions they had with the Russians.

Page says he had no personal information about Russian election interference.

Papadopoulos lied to federal investigators about his interactions with a professor he believed had substantive ties to the Kremlin, according to the statement of offense filed with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Page's Russian contacts have become one focus of congressional investigations into what the USA intelligence community concluded was a campaign led by Putin to undermine US democracy and help Trump win. "In his testimony, however, he was forced to acknowledge that he communicated with high level Russian officials while in Moscow, including one of Russia's Deputy Prime Ministers".

In his July 2016 note, Page wrote that Dvorkovich had "expressed strong support for Mr. Trump and a desire to work together toward devising better solutions in response to a vast range of current worldwide problems".

Page's disclosure increases the pressure on Sessions ahead of a hearing scheduled for next week before the House Judiciary Committee.

He said he was unaware at the time that Papadopoulos was making similar proposals for Trump to travel to Russian Federation, though he acknowledged he had received some of Papadopoulos' emails about Russian Federation. The campaign was certainly aware of his connections to Russia because Papadopoulos suggested using them to set up a meeting between Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin at a March 2016 meeting of the foreign policy team with Trump present.

But Sessions shot the idea down, Gordon said.

Research for the dossier, which Trump has derided, was funded by the campaign of Trump's 2016 opponent, Democrat Hillary Clinton, and the Democratic National Committee.

Page has often been contradictory about whom he met on the trip, but his testimony Thursday was under oath. "So yeah, he probably should come back, and answer the question yet again 'did you know anything about an effort by the Trump campaign to meet with Russia, not just collude with Russia, '" Graham told said on Fox News Sunday.

He has for months said the trip was made as a private citizen, not as part of his role with the Trump campaign.
