Special Counsel Mueller has enough evidence to charge Flynn, son

Federal investigators have enough evidence to charge President Donald Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn and his son, NBC News reports.

Citing multiple sources familiar with the investigation, NBC said Mueller's team was looking at possible charges of money laundering and lying to federal agents, and Flynn's role in a possible plan to remove an opponent of the Turkish president from the United States in exchange for millions of dollars.

Flynn's lawyer Robert Kelner declined to comment when asked if Flynn denies any collusion with Russian Federation during the 2016 election.

Special Counsel Robert Muller is looking into Flynn's lobbying work, including whether or not he lied to federal agents about his foreign contacts or laundered money, according to three sources familiar with the investigation. In addition to Mr Manafort and Mr Gates, George Papadopoulos, a former foreign policy adviser to the campaign, has pleaded guilty to lying to law enforcement officials and is reported to have been cooperating with the investigation.

The connection to the Trump campaign seems to be based only in that Flynn was working for the campaign while also engaging in undisclosed lobbying work for Turkey, including lobbying the Obama administration to extradite Fethullah Gulen, whom Erdogan believes was responsible for the failed coup against him.

Flynn's work as a lobbyist is under scrutiny.

It seems some in Washington weren't surprised by reports signaling Trump's former national security adviser may be the next person to face charges in Mueller's prove.

Michael G. Flynn worked with his father, and briefly worked on Trump's presidential transition.

Flynn's son, Michael G. Flynn, could also be charged as part of the probe.

Bringing charges against Flynn would represent another major escalation in Mueller's probe into alleged Russian collusion with the Trump campaign. The FBI pushed back against the request because there was no new information.
