'La Bamba' Star Lou Diamond Phillips Arrested for DWI

Actor Lou Diamond Phillips has been arrested in Texas for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

Lou Diamond Phillips, seen here in August, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Friday in Texas.

According to an officer, Phillips, 55, drove up to him while he was conducting an unrelated traffic stop and asked for directions around 1:30 a.m.

The officer suspected he was intoxicated, and asked him to perform a number of sobriety tests, all of which he failed. Despite the attest, the La Bamba actor doesn't plan on cancelling a speaking engagement in Corpus Christi later in the day.

As of this morning, the "Stand And Deliver" actor was still booked at the local county jail in nearby Stinton.

Phillips was arrested shortly after, and he reportedly registered a.20 blood alcohol concentration after arriving at the police station - which is more than twice the legal limit. The event will still go on as planned said Jay Ellington, director of the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department.
