Porsche 911 Carrera T is the lightest 911

Performance, thy enemy is weight. Shaving 11 pounds is one thing, but what is underneath the hood still matters.

We all know that it takes effort to lose weight, and Porsche expects to be compensated for it. The "911 Carrera T" logos represent another distinctive feature at the side. This "Touring" model acted as a base model, more or less replacing the four-cylinder 912. You get hardware on this model that is optional or unavailable on the base Carrera. Thanks to modifications such as lightweight glass and fabric loops in place of standard door handles, the 911 T weighs a svelte 3,142 pounds, making it the lightest 911 Carrera in the lineup. It generates 370 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 339 lb. -ft. of torque from 1,750 rpm to 5,000 rpm. A manual with short throw shifter is standard but buyers have the option of a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. As for the design, the 911 Carrera T is fitted with an aerodynamic front spoiler lip that comes with the PASM sport suspension, with a 0.39-inch (10 mm) lower ride height and 20-inch Carrera S wheels painted in Titanium Gray. Available as an option is rear-axle steering, which is not available on the standard 911 Carrera. A sport exhaust system with black exhaust tips accents the various paint options, which include Lava Orange, Black, Guards Red, Racing Yellow, White, and Miami Blue, along with metallic colors Carrera White, Jet Black, and GT Silver. Thanks to the manual transmission with shorter gear ratio and mechanical differential lock, the 911 Carrera T can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds - 0.1 seconds faster than the 911 Carrera Coupé. Equip the PDK and that falls to 4.2 seconds. Porsche offers the vehicle in nine exterior colors, nearly half of them also suitable for Jelly Bellies.

On the inside, Porsche has confirmed the 911 T will boast a shortened gear lever with embossed shift pattern in red, and seat centres made of Sport-Tex material. The steering wheel has a leather rim. You'd better love the sonorous song of a flat-six engine, because you'll hear plenty of it. As a result, Porsche says "performance and driving pleasure are heightened". The SportDesign exterior mirrors feature an Agate Grey finish, along with the louvers of the rear decklid grill, the Porsche logotype, and the model designation "911 Carrera T".
