Kenyan Actress Joins 40 Women In New Rounds Of Sexual Harassment Allegations

More than 40 women - many of them now high-profile actresses - have accused Weinstein of sexual harassment, assault or rape.

In the wake of those stories, Weinstein issued a long, scattered statement in which he begged for "a second chance in the community", referenced Jay-Z lyrics and declared he would take on the National Rifle Association. I said, "thank you" and left it at that. Earlier today, Quentin Tarantino expressed his shame that he didn't do anything to stop Weinstein's predatory behaviour, and said that anyone who worked with him who claimed to not know what was going on is a liar.

Soon after, Weinstein reportedly flew to Arizona to check into a sex-addiction rehabilitation center. Through them all, Weinstein - or at least his representatives - mostly stayed quiet.

A source at the exclusive rehab clinic told the New York Post's Page Six Friday that Weinstein has been falling asleep in therapy sessions, or else talking on his cell phone, which is strictly forbidden at the facility.

That changed this week.

Later, Weinstein invited Nyong'o to meet him in NY for a film, where he allegedly harassed her again over dinner.

"Harvey led me into a bedroom - his bedroom - and announced that he wanted to give me a massage", Nyong'o wrote.

"My basic response was, 'You know, Harvey, I really don't think you should be pulling that thing out, it's not very pretty, '" Young said. " After the screening, we would have drinks in TriBeCa", wrote Nyong'o.

"He grabbed me by the hair and forced me to do something I did not want to do", she told The Times. "I'm the one paying the bill", Weinstein said, according to Nyong'o. "She has told me that obviously her greatest regret is opening that door".

"I share all of this now because I know now what I did not know then. It felt like both a threat and a reassurance at the same time; of what, I couldn't be sure". An assistant at the Weinstein Co. told the producer he was resigning that day, and Weinstein offered to give him a reference. The actress claimed Weinstein once exposed himself to her while she was working on a movie produced by his former production company, Miramax. An intermediary introduced him to me as "the most powerful producer in Hollywood". News in a statement. "He was charming and amusing once more, and I felt confused about the discomfort I had previously experienced", Nyong'o said. Over lunch, Weinstein allegedly tried to pressure the Kenyan actress to drink alcohol.

He said his client never received a settlement and wasn't sure yet if she would sue Weinstein.

"Though we may have endured powerlessness at the hands of Harvey Weinstein, by speaking up, speaking out and speaking together, we regain that power", she concludes.

"Mr Weinstein has a different recollection of the events, but believes Lupita is a brilliant actress and a major force for the industry".

Since the scandal has exploded, Weinstein has been fired from the Weinstein Co., which he co-founded.

Not long after those accusations were made public, Weinstein was sacked from his own film company.
