Arsenal boss Wenger fears lengthy absence for Mustafi

The Germany worldwide could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

Danny Welbeck and Mesut Ozil are expected to be available for selection following injury; but Alexis Sanchez, Alex Iwobi, Olivier Giroud and Alexandre Lacazette have all been involved during the global break.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been speaking to reporters ahead of his side's clash against Watford, with his comments published online by ESPN.

"I didn't expect him to play and Germany had already qualified". We will check him today. "We have to cope with that now". Another dilemma faced by Wenger, as the last thing he would want is to set his star defender back even further.

Though, Kolasinac will have a late fitness test this week, Wenger confirmed, as he should hopefully be okay for Arsenal's trip to Watford in the Premier League this Saturday. "It looks like if he survives the test he is capable to play".

The central defender missed France's recent internationals and has not played since the victory against West Bromwich on September 25 due to an ongoing Achilles problem. I will decide that tomorrow. At the moment he is not available. But he trained on his own and the first signs are positive.

"I haven't seen everybody because some players are coming back today, some even tomorrow like Alexis Sanchez", Wenger said on Thursday, when questioned about injuries picked up during the global break. If Kolasinac is fit then the back three is likely to be Nacho Monreal, Per Mertesacker and Rob Holding.

"Not all the players are back".

Chambers has only played one game this season, in the EFL Cup against Doncaster, but has just been given a new deal by Wenger.

Silva said: "Tomorrow we will do the first session after he's back this afternoon. It's important to keep them during that period".
