Will Hamas give up arms for Palestinian reconciliation?

Israel says he orchestrated several attacks, including the abduction and killing of three Israeli teenagers in 2014, which along with other events triggered that year's Gaza war.

The suspected infiltrators were spotted on the southern part of the Israeli-Gazan border.

The Palestinian Information Center, a Hamas news site, confirmed that al-Arouri had been elected deputy to Haniyeh and is now "the Hamas movement's number two man". During the meeting, both sides are expected to place control of all ministries and crossings with the national consensus government.

Home to almost two million Palestinians, the Gaza Strip has been reeling under a crippling Israeli blockade since 2007.

Last month, Hamas announced that it had agreed to dissolve its administrative committee in Gaza, invite the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority (PA) to return to Gaza and hold new elections in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

The IDF Spokesperson Unit said that the rocket exploded in Gaza territory and stated that the attack constitutes a threat to the security of Israeli citizens. Earlier on Sunday night, the military had said a rocket fell in an open area in the Eshkol region of southern Israel.

It was initially believed that the rocket was sacked by Hamas, but it was later revealed that a Salafist-jihadi group may have tried to fire the rocket according to a Haaretz report.

Since December 2008, Israel has carried out three major military offensives against Palestinians in the Strip.

Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah took the first step toward assuming control of Gaza's administration when he and all the ministers of the national consensus government arrived there from Ramallah on October 2.

The Islamist Hamas movement has run Gaza for a decade but it has been challenged by small hardline factions, some of them inspired by ISIS, who advocate a stricter, Salafist interpretation of the faith.
