Take our survey for a chance to win The Sony Xperia XZ1

The new Sony Xperia XZ1 is now available with Vodafone in the UK. The device is yet to launch in India and is expected to be released in the sub-Rs 35,000 price segment.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 bestows a 5.2-inch FHD 1080p HDR Triluminos Display with the Sony X-Reality engine and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Sony Xperia XZ1 will be the first smartphone from the brand to featured Android Oreo 8.0 in India. It comes with a 64G storage option, which is expandable up to 256GB via a micro SD card.

The device runs 2700mAh battery Qnovo Adaptive charging and Quick Charge 3.0.

The most stand-out feature on the XZ1 is the ability of the phone's primary 19 MP camera to scan objects (and people) in crisp and clear 3D. Along with 4K it can also shoot slow-motion video at 960fps. The smartphone features a 19MP camera at the back and a 13MP selfie camera. On the right edge, you have the volume rocker and power button, which also doubles as the fingerprint scanner, something we have seen on a number of older Xperia smartphones. As most of the Sony devices, even this smartphone is IP65 and IP68 rated for water and dust resistance.

Placed in the premium segment, the Sony Xperia XZ1 will compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S8 and the HTC U11. Unlike a lot of new Android smartphones, the Xperia XZ1 has sharper corners, digging deep in your palms during prolonged single-hand usage. Whilst the series comprises both the Xperia XZ1 as well as the XZ1 Compact, the company could only introduce its flagship Xperia XZ1 in he domestic market today. Up front, you get a 16-megapixel front camera with 150-degree wide-angle lens for selfies and video calling.

The 19MP Exmor RS camera is where the Xperia XZ1 earns the majority of its Rs 44,990 price tag. Sony has also bypassed the dual camera setup (a trend that is fast catching up these days) and is instead betting big on the 3D scanning feature on its camera. Another highlight of the phone is its 3D Scanning Camera. Sony is still with their own design and yet to come with the bezel-less display as soon. Those scans can then be printed, used as a wallpaper, shared with friends on social media, and morphed onto a different body. On the connectivity front, the Xperia XZ1 supports 4G LTE with Cat16 (with up to 1Gbps download speed), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C port and MIMO WiFi.
