Security threat on British Airways plane bound for London surrounded by police

A London-bound British Airways flight was evacuated at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris yesterday due to a bomb scare, but was later cleared for take-off after a four-hour delay.

James Anderson, a 20-year-old entrepreneur on the flight from Paris to London's Heathrow Airport, told The Associated Press that the pilot initially told passengers there were technical issues.

"Apparently an individual has made a direct threat to this aircraft".

Police and firefighters have surrounded the flight, which was heading to Heathrow.

Mr Anderson later tweeted: "Pilot: "Aircraft has been deemed absolutely safe". We will all be led off the aircraft & baggage searched in due course'.

He said: "Everybody's been individually searched by armed officers and given all clear".

Passengers and their luggage were searched and sniffer dogs were used to investigate the aircraft.

Anderson told CNN they had not received any further updates from officials but that passengers were re-boarding the aircraft.

'That's when we noticed police and fire vehicles quickly surrounded the plane and dozens of armed officers and firefighters got out.

"We were told they are also now searching the aircraft with dogs".

British Airways while regretted for the inconvenience faced by the passengers, they emphasised that security of the passengers is their top priority.

A British Airways flight has been evacuated in Paris over security fears.

'We would never operate a flight unless it is safe to do so'.

The security threat came two days after an explosion rocked a crowded London subway auto, injuring at least 29, in what officials say was a terror attack.

This means that security checks are carried out regularly at transport hubs such as airports, and train stations, and often without warning.
