Barcelona considering swoop for Liverpool star Sadio Mane?

Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho reveals that he was interested in joining Catalan giants FC Barcelona.

Barcelona failed with three bids for Coutinho throughout the summer window as they went in search of a replacement for Neymar, who joined Paris Saint-Germain.

Coutinho said that he was now focused on performing for Liverpool and Brazil national team but admitted that the transfer saga was a hard moment for him.

It's an honour to receive an offer from this club [Barcelona] but it is also an honour playing for Liverpool, I've always respected the club and the supporters'.

"It was a complicated month for me but as I have said, it is an honour to receive that offer but it is also an honour to wear this shirt, so what I can do is work hard and honour that on the field". Liverpool is a great club worldwide.

The 25-year-old Brazil global was Barcelona's key transfer target but Liverpool rejected multiple bids from the La Liga side, saying the player was not for sale.

Coutinho started for the Reds in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Burnley, and next up is a League Cup clash away to Leicester City on Tuesday.

Arguably one of Liverpool's strongest attack-minded forces, the loss of Coutinho would have no doubt left a void in Klopp's side.

"Everything is done now and I have to concentrate to ensure I have a good year and help my team".

Per Daniel Zeqiri in the Telegraph, Liverpool resisted Barca's aggressive pursuit of playmaker Coutinho, 25, in the recent transfer window, reportedly rejecting a £138 million bid for the Brazil worldwide.

"I earned my place during the last four, five years and I've never had a problem with anyone here".

Asked whether Liverpool had reached the same compromise, he replied: "Not that I know of".

"And in my case, as everybody knows, I got interested, my family too". Sometimes you're interested and sometimes you're not.
