NFL Week 1 Predictions: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns 9/10/17

The Browns might not have No. 1 pick Myles Garrett (ankle) for the opener, but the focus will be some other impact rookies.

Former Florida Gators and Browns cornerback Joe Haden, who was cut last week and signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, gave a rave review of Garrett on Wednesday, according to Cabot.

New York Giants offensive tackle Ereck Flowers (74) stops Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett (95) in the first half of a preseason game, August 21 in Cleveland. He missed time during his final year at Texas A&M with a left ankle sprain.

The team said that Garrett's status will be updated in a couple weeks. His ability to make plays with his feet as well as his arm may be enticing to fans, but Johnny Manziel also had that ability, and we all know how that turned out. Sixth-round draft picks appear to do well in Pittsburgh, coming in a respectable fourth overall and just behind second-round draft picks with eight names. It might surprise you to learn it wasn't a Landry Jones or Michael Vick game, but an all hands on deck Ben Roethlisberger, Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown appearance that just ended in disaster.

In the late 1960s the Dallas Cowboys rose up as Cleveland's biggest rival, as Dallas beat the Browns for the division title in 1966 and again in the playoffs in 1967. A former-first round pick by the New York Jets, Pryor, a safety, was released Thursday by Cleveland shortly after he was involved in a fight with wide receiver Ricardo Louis.

The path many of these players took to the Steelers 2017 opening day roster is an equally varied one.

Continuing last year's tradition I will continue to note whether or not the Browns are favored going into a given contest.

It is an extremely high expectation for the Browns to stonewall the Steelers offense and come up with big plays against the young, emerging Steelers defense.

"Yeah, we're going across his head, regardless of cost", Warren said at the time. "He wouldn't be the first, he was not the first or the last person to talk about trying to get me". Coach Mike Tomlin said Bell's week of practice would determine workload vs. Browns. "Next man up. I know those guys are prepared".

Garrett said he felt prepared for the regular season after getting his feet wet in the exhibition season.

"My bold prediction, I really feel like Myles can make the Pro Bowl his rookie year".

Hey, Will: Keep an eye on Kasen Williams, because Hue Jackson has a connection with him and spoke very highly of him this week, saying he goes up and gets the ball just about as well an anyone he's seen. But as the Steelers prepare for Sunday's game, it might be said that Roethlisberger owns Cleveland.
