Looks Like David Johnson Will Be Out For A Long Time

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson has a dislocated wrist and is likely headed to injured reserve, coach Bruce Arians said Monday. Johnson set an National Football League record last season with 100 yards from scrimmage in each of the first 15 games of a season.

Johnson's x-rays came back negative, but the wrist sprain still could keep him out for an extended period.

Tight end Troy Niklas suffered the same injury as Logan and Johnson, and said he had been afraid that was Johnson's issue.

The Cardinals lost a potential dynamic return man in the first game of the preseason when rookie running back T.J. He had 18 carries all of last season. Johnson had 11 carries for 23 yards and six receptions for 68 yards before he left that game with the wrist injury. The next and final time Johnson touched the ball, he fumbled at the Cardinals' 10.

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted Tuesday that Cardinals are placing Johnson on the injured reserve list.

Re-signing Chris Johnson, who was cut on September 1, could be an option, Arians said. Johnson had also taken a hard hit after a completion a couple minutes earlier and was tended to by medical staff.

Johnson rushed for 814 yards and three touchdowns in his first year with the team in 2015.

"Andre [Ellington] looked very good".

Not long after Cam Meredith was ruled out for the year, the same fate may be true for Chicago wide receiver Kevin White, who broke a bone in his shoulder and will probably need surgery. Johnson went down in pain, but got up and tried to play. He may be the best option to pick up until Johnson returns from his injury.
