Gareth Bale reveals why he didn't move to Manchester United

Speaking to Pete Jenson in Mailsport, Bale revealed that he still converses with fellow former Spur and current Real Madrid team-mate Luka Modric about the old days, and how they may have transpired differently.

However, Zidane has mostly opted for a 4-4-2 formation in recent months, particularly since Isco has earned a key playmaking presence in the team.

Reports emerged on Monday night that Bale is growing increasingly tempted to join United next summer and Ryan Giggs believes he's the player the club need to take them on to the next level.

"It feels like I got on the football ladder and kept climbing".

Bale came off the bench in the 1-1 draw against Levante in La Liga at the weekend but was unable to prevent his side from dropping points.

The 28-year-old, who has regularly been linked with a move back to the Premier League with Manchester United, says he takes all that in his stride.

Asked about the idea of leaving Real to become the star player at another club, Bale said: "Well, there's an argument for that but I think the main thing, when you look back on your career, is that you look at your trophies".

"In that way, I would have been able to return to a much higher level and be able to do so many things that I am not able to do because of my ankle injury". "Of course it's been difficult not being able to play, but I've had a good preseason and I'm training hard to be able to help the team win more titles". Just try to enjoy myself I think.

Spurs were drawn in what is widely regarded as the Champions League "group of death" alongside holders and 12-time winners Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Apoel Nicosia. "Yes, there have been great moments and others, not so much". I really enjoyed playing in those big European nights at White Hart Lane.

But the former Tottenham winger has claimed that he wants to win more silverware with Real rather than attracting individual stardom. We were there or thereabouts to win the league and we kind of just dipped at the end.
