Active shooter reported at New Hampshire medical center

Lebanon police said they are still securing the area to make sure there are no further hazards after responding to reports of an active shooter at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

The hospital has been placed on lockdown with those inside being told to shelter-in-place. WMUR, a local TV station, though, reports there has been "no confirmation of shooting".

Shortly before 2 p.m. local time on Tuesday, authorities at a hospital in Lebanon, New Hampshire, broadcasted an "active shooter alert", local media outlets report.

The hospital issued a "code silver" alert to employees, which alerts the possibility of somebody being violent with a weapon.

The hospital said it's assessing the situation and that Lebanon and N.H. State Police are on-site.

New Hampshire reporter Roger Carroll tweeted that "sources say father who shot and killed son and DH Newport location now locked down".

The Attorney General's office said this is an unfolding investigation and additional information will be provided as soon as possible while still protecting the integrity of the investigation.
