Sigurdsson record move to Everton hinges on medical

Sigurdsson, the Iceland midfielder, is expected to undergo a medical at Finch Farm, the Everton training ground, today before signing a contract with his new club.

The saga has dragged on for most of the summer with Swansea initially valuing the 27-year-old at GBP50million.

They have already turned down two bids from Everton and rejected a reported £40m offer one from 2016 champions Leicester at the beginning of the summer.

And Swansea were just as keen to close the deal to give them time to find replacements before the transfer window closes.

Ahead of losing perhaps his best performer last season, Swans boss Clement said he would be relieved to see changes made to the transfer deadline - something Sky Sports News revealed will be discussed in a forthcoming meeting between all 20 Premier League clubs.

Everton's majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has spent close to £100m so far in recruiting former favourite Wayne Rooney, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford (£30m), midfielder Davy Klaassen (£23.6m), defender Michael Keane (£30m), Cuco Martina and Sandro Ramirez.

The Iceland worldwide scored nine goals and contributed 13 assists last season to help the Swans beat the drop.

Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony, West Brom forward Nacer Chadli and Stoke midfielder Joe Allen have all been linked with Swansea.

And Swansea have also made an enquiry for their former midfielder Joe Allen, although Stoke insist the Wales worldwide is not for sale.
