Usher Sued For Allegedly Exposing Sexual Partners To Herpes

Sharpton, 21, recalled her encounter with Usher during a press conference with attorney Lisa Bloom Monday at the New York Hilton Hotel in Manhattan. "Later a security guard told me Usher had seen me backstage and was interested in me", Sharpton said.

After hearing the news, a woman who said she had sexual intercourse with Usher in April filed a US$20million (NZ$27m) lawsuit against him for giving her the virus.

Sharpton became a mother previous year and has tested negative for herpes, according to Bloom, who said one of the other two plaintiffs does have herpes.

"'You need to warn your sex partners.so they can make their own decisions", she said.

In July, it emerged that Usher settled a lawsuit for $1.1 million in 2012 after a former lover claimed he had infected her with herpes.

Bloom says her firm is reviewing other potential accusations against the singer and additional names may be added to the lawsuit in the coming days. "I never heard from him again".

According to her suit, Usher's doctor eventually told the woman the singer was diagnosed with herpes around 2009 or 2010.

They, too, claim that the singer exposed them to herpes without their knowledge, but are identified as "Jane Doe" and "John Doe".

According to Sharpton's tale, it all started when August's DJ allegedly invited her and her friend backstage to get better acquainted with the "No Love" singer.

Court filings claim that in the event that Usher doesn't have herpes, his conduct has still caused "severe emotional distress" since he has allowed them to worry that he has exposed them to the virus. "I had a child a year ago, and I knew I was negative", Sharpton said in the news conference. "I would have never consented if I had known", she said.

The identity of the second woman and the man, who claimed to have had sex with Usher in recent weeks, in contrast, have not been disclosed. I got a call from Usher on a blocked number, asking me what hotel I was staying in and the room number. "I would not have taken a risk of getting an incurable disease; my health is very important to me", Sharpton explained.

"We hope that he has not knowingly endangered his sex partners, fans who revered him and who were thrilled to receive his personal attention", said Bloom. Usher's representatives did not immediately respond to HuffPost's request for comment.
