Cowboys WR Lucky Whitehead gets his dog Blitz back

Earlier this week Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Lucky Whitehead revealed that his dog, Blitz, had been kidnapped and was being held for ransom. The WR then made an Instagram account in Blitz's name, and there are now more than 5,000 followers.

Whitehead first posted a picture of the puppy on Instagram on May 13, creating a personal account for Blitz and even getting customized socks with the dog's picture on them.

In his message, Whitehead pleads that his dog be returned safely and that anyone with any information contact him as soon as possible.

A Dallas Cowboys football player is dealing with an offseason crisis. Boogotti Kasino claims the dog was taken by Whitehead's "ex-bitch", and that he did not steal the animal. But he said he hasn't heard from them since then, and police told him that the calls came from an untraceable "burner" phone.

Whitehead said he refused to pay the $10,000, but told the thieves he would give them "some cash", which they indicated they would accept.

He said he was in Florida on July 9, when a friend who was pet-sitting sent him texts asking if he had sent someone to pick up his dog.

Whitehead, 25, said he tried to get detectives on the case, but their investigation reached a dead end because the kidnappers' phones were untraceable.

This is obviously a pretty wild story (and one that could develop further if Whitehead decides to press charges), but the good news is that Blitz is safe and has been returned.

Whitehead added that he believed the situation was an "inside job", that he didn't care about other items stolen and just wanted his dog back: "The damage is done". "It's killing me just because I wasn't there to protect him".
