15th stage of the Tour de France: Mollema victor in solitaire

Tour de France 2017, Stage 15 begins on July 16th, 2017 at 7:30 AM EST from Laissac-Sévérac-l'Église and covers a distance of 189.5 km ending in Le Puy-en-Velay.

Trek-Segafredo's Bauke Mollema recorded his first stage win in the Tour on Sunday, per ITV Cycling.

Froome now leads the race by 19sec from Aru with Romain Bardet third at 23sec having also lost four seconds to Froome in the finish, although gained two on the yellow jersey.

Despite riding in support of Chris Froome, Landa has been impressive in mountain stages and was stronger than Froome last week in the Pyrenees when the Team Sky leader struggled in the ascent to Peyragudes.

Aru was the big victor in Peyragudes, where he took the yellow jersey for the first time after Froome cracked in the last 500 meters of the stage.

The defending champion came seventh, one second behind stage victor Michael Matthews of Australia as Aru, who started the day with the yellow jersey on his shoulders, lost 25 seconds to the Briton in the final effort, a 600-metre climb at an average gradient of 9.6 per cent.

We don't see Yates cracking in the Alps, which means that, come Paris, he could make Tour history: the first time in the 41-year history of the competition that brothers have ever won the white jersey, let alone in back to back years (Simon's twin brother Adam won in 2016). After Chris Froome lost his overall lead to Fabio Aru, the team has worked hard to get it back for him. "I had to give it my maximum to get back to the front of the race".

"Everybody was on their limit on the last two climbs". Mikel Landa (Spain / Team Sky) +1:17'; 7. Matthews is 79 points behind the German, who won five of the first 11 stages to establish a huge advantage.

After narrowly averting disaster in the Massif Central, Chris Froome believes he is ready for the final stretch of the Tour de France with a handful of rivals breathing down his neck. I'm going to pass out tonight.

Nairo Quintana's bid for Tour glory this year looks to be over after he cracked on the Peyra Taillaide and tumbled out of the top 10.

The outcome saw Froome retain his overnight overall lead on Aru and Bardet of 18s and 23s respectively. He struggled badly on Thursday's Pyrenean stage, falling out of overall contention and when he was dropped early on Friday by the peloton, he made a decision to call it quits. Froome who has until now has avoided any hostility from the Tour crowd, said he understood: "This is Romain Bardet's home stage I think that it's to be expected the support for him".

The general classification contenders would mostly finish together, although Ireland's Dan Martin was able to gain 14 seconds on the yellow jersey group with a late move. I panicked a little bit, it was a bit of a stressful moment. "There were attacks, people tried to attack me several times but I responded every time".
