Feds investigate explosion at USAF recruiting office

Federal authorities are searching for surveillance video of a commercial area that houses an Oklahoma Air Force recruiting center where an explosive device was set off.

The FBI said earlier Tuesday the explosion is not now being considered an act of terrorism.

In Bixby, Oklahoma in the recruiting center Voyenno-air forces of the U.S. there was an explosion. Instead, Rice said the explosion could have been a prank or the work of an employee. Witnesses said someone on a red motorcycle tossed a backpack, which then exploded, Tulsa news station KJRH-TV reported. The door of the recruiting center was blown off and landed in a parking space in front of the storefront and soot-covered windows.

Investigators with the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are at the scene. The incident has not officially been called a domestic terrorism case, but if proven guilty, the Federal Bureau of Investigation will have jurisdiction over him.

NewsOn6 reported the explosion came from a possible pipe bomb. The FBI has not yet determined if the two criminal incidents at the respective recruiting centers are linked.

The blast took place around 10.30pm local time (4.30pm GMT) in Bixby, which lies around 15 miles to the south of Tulsa.

"That government vehicle looks handsome setting outside that office in tulsa".

Special agents also are looking into whether a link exists with a vandalism at another recruitment office that is within walking distance of the bomb site.

Davis said law enforcement now does not know what caused the explosion and does not have any information on suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the FBI's Oklahoma City field office at 405-290-7770.
