BBC Journalist Offers Update on Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez Amid Man City Interest

He is expected to have some time off but The Sun claim Wenger wants "crisis talks" with the player before Arsenal leave on Sunday for their pre-season tour of Australia and China.

Sanchez will now jet off on his summer holidays after Chile were beaten in the Confederations Cup final by Germany at the weekend.

"I think Alexis knows very well what to do", Zamorano said on SFR Sport.

However, the Bundesliga club's stance could increase the chances of Sanchez staying at the Emirates Stadium - even if it is just to run out the final year of his contract.

"If we want to win the Champions League we'll have to invest but we can't spend insane money". That is £125,000 more than the current offer.

They also add that Arsenal improved their financial offer to Alexis and that a new contract is likely.

Supporters were in jubilant mood on Wednesday after the club-record signing of Alexandre Lacazette was confirmed by Arsenal as they bring in a real marquee addition.

Sanchez's new wage demands may force the Gunners to sell him rather than attempt to keep him at the club.

Goal understands Alexis is considered a "priority" signing of Man City's and Pep Guardiola is confident he will land him.

Bayern's cooling interest in Sanchez may be a cause for concern for Arsenal if the Chilean global is minded to leave the Emirates. The Old Lady have instead been heavily linked with a younger, cheaper option in Fiorentina's Federico Bernardeschi.

At this moment, then, City look like the frontrunners, but with Alexis still under contract the ball - for this summer, at least - remains in Arsenal's court.
