India vs West Indies 2017

India Women made it two wins from two games as Smriti Mandhana struck an unbeaten 106 to condemn West Indies to a seven-wicket defeat at Taunton. Skipper Mithali Raj, featuring in her last World Cup tournament, smashed a 73-ball 71 to help India post 281, which proved too much in the end for the hosts.

Matthews had earlier top-scored for West Indies with 43 at the top of the order but only four players in the top six made double figures against a disciplined India bowling display.

Rahane did not make the India team for the recent Champions Trophy in England, but he grabbed his chance to impress the selectors. Punam Raut (86) and Smriti Mandhana (90) put on a 144-run opening stand that deflated the spirits of the English team. Brimming with confidence after upstaging England, India would look to continue the winning momentum when they take on the West Indies.

Shanel Daley (33) and Afy Fletcher (36) showed some defiance down the order taking the score to plus 180, which at one point in time was looking improbable.

Poonam Yadav led the way with 2-17 off her 10 overs and at 121-7, the World T20 champions looked set to be bowled out cheaply. India is now ranking third in the ICC ODI rankings while the West Indies team is ranking ninth on the table.

The West Indies have set a brilliant record in scoring runs and are consistently improving their rankings in ODIs, but are prone to sudden batting collapses. Eventually India have 2 wins in as many outings. After the first ODI abandoned due to rain, the Men in Blue registered a comprehensive 105-run win in the second match.

Their first two ODIs were played on Friday, June 23 and on Sunday, June 25 at the Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain.

While balling was performed brilliantly by Poonam Yadav, Harmanpreet Kaur and Dipti Sharma that remained in tandem with the stumping's of Sushma Verma, on the other hand, India's star Jhulan Goswami kept crawling for wickets with Shikha Pandey.
