Salvador Dali's body to be exhumed amid paternity lawsuit

Born on May 11, 1904 in Figueras to a bourgeois family - his father was a legal clerk - Dali developed an interest in painting from an early age.

A judge in Madrid has ordered the exhumation of Spanish artist Salvador Dali in an ongoing paternity case, according to Spanish media.

Pilar Abel, 61, from Girona, north east Spain, claims the artist had a secret affair with her mother while she was working as a maid for his friends. Although Martinez has no definitive proof at this time that Dali is her father, she clearly believes her mother's story and even claims she bears a striking resemblance to the surrealist artist. The Gala-Dali Foundation will appeal the judicial decision to exhume Dali´s body for the performance of a biological test to determine whether Pilar Abel is, as claimed in court, biological daughter of his. According to the BBC, the judge said there are no remaining "biological remains" that could be used in the test. Sounds challenging.

She then attempted to find personal items belonging to Dali, who died in 1989 aged 85. Ms Pilar Abel is insisting that Dali is her biological father due to their physical likeness. Why didn't she go after the "Great Masturbator" when he was still breathing?

Returning to Catalonia after 12 years, he invited French poet Paul Eluard and his Russian wife Elena Ivanovna Diakonova to Cadaques. The couple did not have children together.

"If there is any opportunity to understand Dali better, and to appreciate the artwork better, that's ultimately the most important thing for us at the museum", said Tush. Dali died in Figueres, Spain on 23 January 1989.
