Sunshine, warmer temperatures expected as the week progresses

Update: The National Weather Service at about 7:40 a.m. removed the chance for severe storms from the forecast for southern Wisconsin.

Showers are possible through Saturday, the National Weather Service said.

There's a chance of rain Monday, too, when highs will be in the upper-50s.

WEDNESDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy skies and a few afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms will be possible, with a high temperature of 83 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms will develop ahead of an advancing cold front during the late afternoon and evening.

Today: Partly cloudy. High: Lower 60s.

Friday night the region will have clear skies with lows in the low/ mid-50s.

On Sunday, which is Mother's Day, skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy with highs in the mid/ upper 80s and winds from the south at 5-15 miles per hour.

While we can't totally rule out a shower Friday morning, it still looks like the main window for showers and thunderstorms will come from about noon Friday through midnight Friday night.

Overnight will still see comfortable temperatures with lows expected in the upper 60s and lower 70s the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 75.

With no snow on Tuesday, Madison's May total stayed at zero, 0.1 inches below normal. This should be a decent rain event with potential for about 1/2 to 1 inch of rain for much of North/Central Alabama.
