Weather Eye: Sunshine, warm airflow help make today warmest day so far

Mostly cloudy skies will gradually clear today, and the high will be near 63. No threat of rain until the end of the weekend.

On Easter Sunday, most areas are expected be dry, especially north of I-70.

"Hopefully people are doing their Easter activities now", meteorologist Brooke Bingaman said early Sunday.

MONDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy skies and cool temperatures will be around with an overnight low temperature of 53 degrees.

With plentiful sunshine, afternoon readings in the low 80s are forecast for Saturday and Sunday. A slight chance of showers before 9 a.m., and a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m.

Today - A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 3 p.m.

Monday: Partly to mostly sunny, breezy and pleasant.

A warm Easter is ahead with the chance for a few afternoon showers. It will be another breezy day with southwesterly winds between 10-20 miles per hour with some higher gusts. Lows will be around 42 degrees, with south-southeast winds around 10-20mph, gusting up to 30mph at times.

Thu: High: 68 Low: 54 Partly cloudy.

Low areas including Dundee will be mostly dry with sunny spells, whereas hilly Perthshire will see a flurry of snow. A more powerful storm system may arrive Friday into Saturday bringing a better chance for rain, storms, and possibly severe weather. Temperatures will soar into the upper 70s this afternoon.

Tuesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. So not a washout on Sunday, but there will be some scattered showers and thunderstorms through the day with plenty of clouds around. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58.

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers before 8 a.m., then gradual clearing to sunny, high near 64. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60°.

Wednesday night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 a.m.

Friday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely.
