Finally! April the Giraffe in active labor

More than 1.2 million people tuned in to the Animal Adventure Park Live Stream Saturday morning to help welcome the already beloved calf into the world.

As for April's actual birth, the Animal Adventure Park Zoo personnel have yet to know when the soon-to-be mother will undergo labor. The family is rounded out by a 5-year-old giraffe named Oliver, the newborn's father. The calf is his first offspring.

Fans of the live feed were devastated, thinking their chance to witness the live birth of a baby giraffe had been cut off.

The zoo says it will have a contest to decide on a name for the calf.

While April has not yet given birth, the park reported on its Facebook page that it has welcomed three black belly Barbados lambs and twin pygmy goats since the giraffe watch began.

You can find the livestream here. Giraffe's instinctively hide their labor for however long it's lasting in order to not draw attention from predators who will wait out a giraffe's labor in order to attack once the calf is born.

Animal park zookeepers and YouTube viewers alike continued to expect the calf any minute (for days now). A contest will be held, and the lucky victor will have the privilege of naming April's much-awaited baby. This will be his first calf. The shutdown didn't last long, however, and fervent April watchers were once again allowed their favorite Beckettian pastime.

A video by a pregnant woman in SC parodying April's livestream went viral on Facebook. No one go suggesting Giraffey McGiraffe Face, now. Male giraffes, according to Animal Adventure Park, "only really care about two things - fighting and the unmentionable". Keepers described April as "out of it", Thursday, noting "distracted behavior versus her normal inquisitive, treat-begging self". April's vet says he's not concerned by the fact that April has not yet given birth, and she will simply have her baby when she is ready. A Farmington, New Hampshire, songwriter even posted a music video on YouTube called, "I'm Going Crazy Waiting (For A Giraffe)". "This is great!" said park owner Jordan Patch announcing the new arrival of the park's first calf.

At birth, the calf is expected to weigh about 150 pounds and around 6 feet in height.
