Abducted Pakistani engineer freed in South Sudan

Jamali was kidnapped along with four others earlier this month near Juba, capital of South Sudan by rebels forces loyal to former vice president Riek Machar.

Indians Midhun Ganesh and Edward Ambrose and Pakistani Ayaz Hussein Jamali, who worked for DAR Petroleum, had been seized separately from near their workplaces earlier this month in oil-rich Upper Nile state.

According to Hindustan Times, two Indian engineers of the same company were also abducted by rebels in Juba. "Mr Ayaz Jamali, who was in the captivity of some group in South Sudan, has been released", he said.

A Pakistani engineer who was abducted second last week in South Sudan along with his three Chinese colleagues has been released.

However, it did not specify when the hostages were released.

The three men were flown to Khartoum via Addis Ababa after their release, a Sudanese foreign ministry official told reporters at Khartoum airport when the oil workers arrived.

Jamali said they were kidnapped to send a message to the worldwide community that foreigners are not welcome in South Sudan.

In a written media statement, the ministry noted that reports issued by the United Nations, the African Union and the Arab League reiterated the stability in Darfur, Blue Nile and South Kurdafan governorates. He said the Indians "refused to respect repeated warnings from the military command of the armed opposition". The WFP also stressed the solidarity of people living in the areas of reception in Sudan and stressed that refugees "work the land and support local farmers, in a bid to earn a living for them and their families".

In a speech delivered by First Vice President Taban Deng Gai on behalf of President Salva Kiir, the South Sudan leader pledged to implement the health policy to boost the health sector.
