'Day Without a Woman' day in Rochester

Numerous employees at PACO took time on Tuesday to write to lawmakers about the importance of equality for women in the workplace.

360i is now promoting the initiative on its website and though its social channels.

The one-day protest, which is being held in conjunction with International Women's Day, is meant to draw attention to the plight of women in the workplace who on average are paid less than men.

Tomorrow, the activists behind January's Women's March on Washington are organizing a nationwide economic show of solidarity called A Day Without A Woman.

Organizers for the protest encouraged people to take a day off work, wear red or only patronize women and minority-owned businesses.

This noon rally, planned for International Women's Day but not officially under the banner of "A Day Without a Woman", coincides with the national action and is organized by Indivisible chapters in Sonoma County.

How will you be participating in International Women's Day and A Day Without a Woman?

Some state organizers- including Alabama - are sitting out the strike, citing concerns that participants could lose their jobs. They say they are taking a stand against gender inequality, racial and sexual violence. The movement is part of the International Women's Strike.

There will be celebrations of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, but the rally will highlight issues such as equal pay and reproductive rights for women. They also ask that women give any of their own employees a paid day off.

This year's theme is #BeBoldForChange and Margot said that is exactly what we all should be - men and women - to bring about change and equality. "It's easy to think the only options are "to strike" or 'not to strike, ' but there's so much more you can do to support women's rights", she says. This one that reminds women to always support other women: 6.
