Paul: Stop 'hysteria' on Trump, Russia probe

White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Sunday on ABC's "This Week" that dicussions about Sessions or a special prosecutor wouldn't be appropriate until congressional committees complete their investigations. He again referred to Rep. Nunes, who claimed that reports about Spicer coordinating a press campaign to counter reports of contact between Trump and the Russians were simply attempts by the administration to be "transparent".

"Oh, so you're not going to let this slide?" So far, there's no reason to believe that the Trump campaign violated the law, even if one could establish that they were less than careful about their contacts during the campaign.

The FBI is now conducting its own investigation into the Russian hacking of the 2016 election, and allegations of contact between Russians known to US intelligence and advisers on the Trump campaign.

"You can not have somebody - a friend of mine, Jeff Sessions, who was on the campaign and who is an appointee", Issa added of a potential probe, referencing Sessions' ties both Trump's campaign and administration.

And in his eyes, newly appointed Attorney General Jeff Sessions is not in the picture.

"You are going to need the special prosecutor's statue and office".

"The bigger thing here is, if Democrats want to continue to relive their loss every single day, by doing an investigation or review after review, that's fine by us", she said.

"There's been a longstanding tradition that when you go overseas you don't toady up to sort of the socialists in Europe and you say, 'Oh they look down their nose at us and think they're better than us, '" the Kentucky Republican said on the Mike Gallagher radio show. "I think the American people deserve to know the truth. But at this point, we don't have that".

During today's press briefing, ABC's Jon Karl asked Sean Spicer about whether he thinks - as at least one Republican congressman does - that there should be a special prosecutor on Russian Federation.

"I guess my question would be: A special prosecutor for what?" the White House spokesman said. "How many people have to say there's nothing there before you realize there's nothing there?"

Currently, Republicans hold both houses of Congress, and Republicans in charge of critical committees have been reluctant to investigate allegations against President Donald Trump.

"We still have not seen any evidence that anyone from the Trump campaign, or any other campaign for that matter, has communicated with the Russian government", Nunes said Monday. He said it would be inappropriate for someone connected to President Trump's campaign to lead an investigation.
