Oscar De La Hoya Reportedly Arrested For DUI In Pasadena

De La Hoya, 43, was observed speeding in a Land Rover on Del Mar Blvd., west of Arroyo Blvd., in Pasadena, according to police.

De La Hoya was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which he failed to perform after observing demonstrations and receiving instructions from the officer. He was cited and later released to his manager.

"As for his [blood alcohol content], he was over the legal limit of 0.08%", said Officer Xavier Bejar, a CHP spokesman in Altadena.

His 2017 Land Rover had mechanical violations, according to the report.

De la Hoya won Olympic gold in 1992 and 10 professional world titles in six weight divisions before retiring in 2008 after a loss to Manny Pacquiao. It's unclear how the incident will affect De La Hoya's availability for the promotion.

The 42-year-old has recently been plagued with alcoholism and substance abuse claims. He checked himself into rehab in 2011 after admitting he had issues with cocaine and alcohol and had been having suicidal thoughts. He was scheduled to head a press conference in Los Angeles to promote the fight between Francisco Vargas and Miguel Berchelt and he was not present for the conference.

He won bouts against Hall of Famers Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. He went to rehab in 2013 not long after Floyd Mayweather Jr.
