China calls on United States to bar Taiwan from Trump inauguration

The Communist Party's China Daily says Beijing should "take off the gloves" in the face of Trump's provocations.
Donald Trump has now been sworn in as the 45th president of the United States - but people in China may have a hard time seeing it.
He notoriously blamed China for stealing jobs that were, in his mind, rightfully American, accusing them during the presidential debates of 'using our country as a piggy bank'.
In 2012, Trump tweeted that the 'concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make USA manufacturing noncompetitive'.

"Everything is under negotiation including one-China", Trump had said on January 15, questioning the decades old policy followed by Washington. She called on both sides to deal with economic and trade frictions prudently since "trade war and confrontation will result in no winners".
China is a key driver of the global economy and a growth slowdown is a major concern for investors around the world.
President-elect Trump also promised to scrap the Trans-Pacific Partnership, an agreement reducing tariffs and streamlining trade between the US and 11 other Pacific Rim countries that did not include China.
President Donald Trump has so deeply infected the global discussion that a recent headline on the front page of a Philippine daily that shouted WORLD ON EDGE AS TRUMP ERA NEARS could have been published nearly anywhere.
Economists assume that the government's structural reforms, including efforts to cool China's overheated housing market, coupled with a potentially testy relationship with the new U.S. administration will weigh on China's growth this year.
More recently, he has declared the One China policy, under which Washington agrees not to officially recognise Taiwan, is up for negotiation and a key member of his team suggested the U.S. and its allies should block access to islands Beijing has built in the disputed waters of the South China Sea.
Of course, it's also possible that Trump is simply raising this and other sensitive issues as negotiating tactics to further USA trade and investment goals.
With actions looming on trade, Trump said he would slap a "substantial border tax" on goods entering the USA from foreign countries, and where would be "advantages" to companies that manufacture here.
Arthur Kroeber, MD of Gavekal Dragonomics, an economic research firm, said frictions had risen because the "material fruits" of the United States' engagement with China had been very unevenly distributed. But it's not certain what effect Trump will have on China and Taiwan, because politicians don't always actually do what they say they will do, it's too early to say what the outcome will be. "But that may also partially be his style and coming at these types of issues from a business approach and a negotiating approach and less of a diplomatic or statesmanlike approach, so we'll have to see, once he actually gets into office, how he chooses to conduct the relationship".
Whatever Trump is or is not up to with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Chinese government must be wondering about the possibility that the White House and the Kremlin may have friendlier relations. "He doesn't play by rules that they're used to and I think that is definitely disorienting". Let us hope that the economic rationality and pragmatism of these figures dominate the general outlook of the new administration and we do not witness a repetition of the violent conflicts, or invasions incited by the American war machine.
Israel tested that theory Sunday when Jerusalem city officials approved building permits for 566 new homes in east Jerusalem. Conversely, Mr Trump has challenged the idea that halting settlement expansion is a prerequisite for peace negotiations.
Some people take a different approach. "I can use all the help I can get!" "It's really up to them and their constituents". With that in mind, I refuse to be a pawn in the president-elect's efforts to rally support from congressional Republicans.
But Chelsea will go eight points clear of their London rivals if they beat relegation-threatened Hull in Sunday's late match. Arsenal didn't make it easy on themselves this afternoon, but Burnley deserves plenty of credit for their effort.
Just like modern stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have made soccer all the more popular in the United States of America. Still unsure? The series has been shown online since 2010, and the demand to watch it shows the growth is likely to continue.
After a pause between storms, a second round of severe weather should be expected Saturday night into early Sunday morning. This wil renew the severe weather risks of individual tornado development and damaging wind gusts through Sunday morning.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the family of the victims of the accident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the loss of lives in the accident.
With plenty of points to be won and lost, the title race is still very much on and Arsenal will be confident of bridging the gap. Defensively, Arsenal have improved since Shkodran Mustafi joined the club in the summer but there is still room for improvement.
Flu season at its peak, shots are encouraged
Flu vaccines are available at doctors' offices and pharmacies. "We anticipate there will be good efficacy this year", he said. Officials say a total of 311 people have been hospitalized or died from the flu since September 1st, 2016.
