Crystal Palace Agree Deal To Sign Arsenal's Carl Jenkinson

Palace have been linked with Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing, who played under Allardyce at West Ham United.

"But the team out there with a lot of Premier League experience can't beat that on their own ground it tells me a lot about those players".

Eagles coach Sam Allardyce decided to make seven changes for Tuesday's clash, following the 3-0 defeat to West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday.

Allardyce's remit was to abandon the expansive playing style under Pardew and start digging out results.

Crystal Palace will this week entertain Bolton Wanderers in an FA Cup third round replay, and it's the home side who backed to win.

Both Vela and Zach Clough had chances towards the end but Palace held on to book a fourth round tie with fellow Premier League side Manchester City. "The team has lost what it's used to be".

"I think we've exhausted this country and we'll be looking to Europe now", Allardyce revealed at his latest press conference. "The identity has changed".

"The fact we have only kept one clean sheet all season is a big point for me to try and make the team realize that we need to stop those goals going in, either in general play or in set pieces".

"That's an area of my expertise".

Having already signed Jeffrey Schlupp from champion Leicester, he said Monday that the club was close to sealing a deal for Arsenal right back Carl Jenkinson.

Jenkinson, a former Finland youth player capped once by England, was well-regarded by Slaven Bilic until a serious cruciate ligament injury cut short his second season-long stint at West Ham and forced him to undergo knee surgery last February.
