Johanna Konta beats Eugenie Bouchard to progress to final in Sydney

The second seed, who is unbeaten in her past six finals matches, will now face the victor of the other semifinal between sixth-seeded Johanna Konta and Eugenie Bouchard.

At a set and a break up, the British No 1, seeded sixth here, appeared to be coasting towards a last four place but her Russian opponent broke back immediately and then again to establish a 4-2 lead. So, you know, I think that's the flawless thing to have.

Konta said on court: "Dan Evans started it off and I'm just happy I was able to bring it home".

Konta has not dropped a set at the tournament so far and was at her aggressive best in a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Eugenie Bouchard in the last match of the evening session.

Her 6-2, 6-4 defeat at Melbourne Park means Robson has failed to win a competitive match since September, while Hesse goes through to meet either Spain's Silvia Soler-Espinosa or the American doubles specialist Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

"This racquet, it's made for me".

"Sometimes you play people two or three weeks in a row, like Caroline [Wozniacki] and I had past year in Asia, but I'm definitely more happy with this performance than [the one] in Shenzhen", said Radwanska. Moreover, this will be her second Sydney final after winning the title in 2013.

Bouchard had a breakout season in 2014, reaching the semifinals at the Australian Open and French Open before making the final at Wimbledon. Third seed Troicki was handed a walkover when Philipp Kohlschreiber was forced to pull out of their quarter-final, while Muller saw off second seed Pablo Cuevas in straight sets.

Konta, watched by her new coach Wim Fissette, took only 68 minutes to progress to her first final of the year.

"I think I'm playing a bit deeper and the ball is going a little bit better", he said.

Australian Open seed Kiki Bertens has crashed out of the Hobart International tennis at the hands of a qualifier.

"I've played her (Radwanska) twice and lost to her twice, so hopefully I can step up tomorrow night against her", said the 25-year-old Konta, who moved from Australia when she was 14 and became a British citizen in 2012.
