More Companies Are Adding Amazon Alexa To Their Hardware

In a statement to ABC News, Amazon clarified that users must confirm a purchase with Alexa "with a "yes" response" and that they can avoid confirming it by saying "no".

Ford actually tested this out past year but is now moving quickly to implement it in as many vehicle models as possible.

Amazon's Alexa, a voice-activated assistant, first came into being two year ago integrated with the Echo speaker. It also will allow some smart home automation control, based on the devices compatible with Alexa.

The company is building an invisible operating system, using Alexa, for running a range of aspects of day to day life.

Ford will be using its Sync 3 to integrate Alexa into a vehicle system. But Ford and Amazon envision the future car's interior environment to be a voice-controlled command center just like the home Echo. Using an Amazon Echo device in the house, Ford owners will be able to do things like remotely lock or start their vehicles.

Amazon Restaurants is available only to Amazon Prime customers in certain regions and it's a way to easily and without hassle order a meal from a number of participating restaurants.

Alexa skills are analogous to apps - new features created by third-party developers to extend the capabilities of Alexa-powered Echo devices from Amazon and, increasingly, a variety of devices from outside hardware developers.

Among the first Ford models to get Alexa integration are the Focus Electric, Fusion Energi, and C-MAX Energi. This means anyone can summon Alexa and order something there and then. You can tell your auto to stream the movie for the kids in the back, or turn down the heat in your home.
