Neville leads pundits' criticism of referee Dean after Feghouli red card

Despite replays showing there was very little in it, referee Mike Dean was quick to show the Algerian a straight red with just a third of the first half played.

"There have been far worse decisions than that, we're not talking about the most shocking decision of all time here, I mean he has lunged in, and Mike Dean will defend himself".

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has insisted that he is "pleased" with his side's performance despite their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United this evening.

"It was so early in the game for basically nothing and it is Feghouli, very rarely he makes a foul". "You know me, I'm the first one who says [referees] have a hard job, and every time we look at a slow motion I go: 'Yeah, they don't have that in real time.' But I said it then - I wouldn't have been happy with a yellow".

The tackle seemed a legitimate 50/50, with Jones winning the ball.

But Dean stunned the London Stadium by dismissing Feghouli and leaving West Ham to play for 75 minutes with 10 men. When manager Bilic decided it was time to send substitute Andy Carroll on, it was Payet who made way and Lanzini who stayed on.

"It was Jones who made a more risky tackle than Feghouli. It put the game in a different perspective and was totally unfair for us", he added.

"I'm not happy in defeat of course, gutted and frustrated, but we played really good especially if you consider it is 10 men".

Mourinho said he did not have a good view of the incident and confessed his men had not been at their best. It is very hard to play football in these circumstances with 48 hours between matches. When you are fresh you play simple.

"Only when I brought on a fresh Mata and [Marcus] Rashford did I think we deserved to win".

Bilic also said that the officials should have easily seen that Ibrahimovic was offside before scoring United's second goal.
