Bono wins prize at Woman of the Year awards

Bono is to become the first man to be awarded a prize at Glamour's Woman of the Year awards. Yes, the awards are created to primarily highlight the achievement of women, but Glamour editor-in-chief Cindi Leive, said she felt it was time to highlight the men who were also doing their bit to make things happen for women.

Bono said in a statement Tuesday via Glamour that the battle for gender equality won't be won unless men step up and lead alongside women.

Bono responded to the news, saying, "We're largely responsible for the problem, so we have to be involved in the solutions".

Glamour's Women of the Year are: United States singer Gwen Stefani, American Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, the three founders of Black Lives Matter, International Monetary Fund head Christine Lagarde, American pop star Zendaya, Italian designer Miuccia Prada, Yazidi human rights activist Nadia Murad and plus-size model Ashley Graham. "But it started to seem that that might be an outdated way of looking at things, and there are so many men who are doing really wonderful things for women these days".

Speaking to the Associated Press, she added: "Some men get it - and Bono is one of those guys".

They will be celebrated at a ceremony in Los Angeles on November 14. "I asked did she think I deserved it".

"In 2004 he cofounded ONE, the worldwide volunteer advocacy organization that has helped get lifesaving AIDS drugs to millions of people in Africa". As an activist, he's using those skills to get the world talking about the fact that ending extreme poverty begins with empowering women and girls'.

Glamour magazine has just released its 2016 "Women of the Year" roundup, and people are NOT HAPPY about one of the selections.

"By establishing Poverty Is Sexist, Bono is making it clear that powerful men can, and should, take on these deep-rooted issues". "Prudence told me, 'Letting the world know what we're up against is more important than going to my sister's funeral, '" he recalls. "Honestly, things that ought to be obvious sometimes are not".

If you thought U2's Bono couldn't possibly get more insufferable, think again.
