Hillary Clinton won't be visiting Louisiana An error occurred

Facing criticism for remaining in New England on vacation instead of visiting flood-ravaged Louisiana, President Barack Obama will travel to Baton Rouge this week. And with many homes underwater and uninsured, homeowners could be left without the means to rebuild and recover.

The president's visit comes just as GOP nominee Donald Trump visited the state on Friday along with his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

Governor John Bel Edwards said at least 40,000 homes have suffered at least some damage.

Almost 4,000 people remain in shelters.

Michael Williamson, president and CEO of the United Way of Southeast Louisiana, says you can help by making a financial contribution to purchase resources.

That's a lot more than what President Obama has done for the people of Baton Rouge and other parts of southeastern Louisiana.

Friday evening on the radio, Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin ripped President Obama's response to the floods in Louisiana, in which his administration issued "guidance" advising Louisiana residents not to discriminate.

"The president says he doesn't want to come, he is trying to get out of a golf game", Trump told volunteers at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church.

The photos of President Obama playing golf in Martha's Vineyard while Louisiana is reeling from its worst natural disaster since Hurricane Katrina have made the calls for him to cut his vacation short louder. "Everything's filthy. I've never been through a flood, so I really didn't know".

"E$3 verywhere you look you can find black folks and white folks loving on each other, helping each other through this crisis", Mr. Dreher said in a Thursday post.

Louisiana Strong is also on the ground in Southern Louisiana, providing relief to flood victims.

President Barack Obama signed a major disaster declaration on August 14, but as of Thursday morning, he had yet to make a public address, like he did with Superstorm Sandy in 2012.

"The vault was completely gone", Brooks said.

It's not now, when flood waters are still high and moving, that mosquitoes will be a major concern, experts warned, but rather when the waters recede.

Officials are setting up a temporary bus system to help people in and around Baton Rouge whose vehicles were damaged by flooding. They hope for the best but with floods this catastrophic that caught many by surprise, they're also prepared for the worst.

According to Shepherd, "people around the world are going to see more and more weather for which they have no reference point".

Edwards said the White House asked about coming to Louisiana, but that his office asked them to wait until the immediate response phase was over. After that came deadly floods that swamped thousands of homes and claimed more than a dozen lives.
