The Blacklist spinoff in development with Famke Janssen

Janssen will be introduced in The Blacklist's May 12 episode, which will act as a backdoor pilot for this new series, and Deadline expects NBC to decide whether or not it will pick up this spinoff for a full series order before that.

NBC is eager to broaden its horizons when it comes to hit crime drama The Blacklist, with The Hollywood Reporter claiming that the network is partnering with series producers to engineer a spinoff based around Famke Janssen's newcomer.

Another character that's expected to appear in the spinoff is Ryan Eggold's Tom Keen, also known as Jacob Phelps.

Update, 5:20 p.m: Should the spinoff be ordered to series, Edi Gathegi will also star as a regular. Meanwhile, Jon Bokenkamp, John Eisendrath, John Davis, John Fox and Michael Watkins are set to executive produce.

She will portray Susan "Scottie" Halsted.

Currently, there are no networks yet associated with the "Blacklist" spinoff. Oddly enough, the espionage-centric intrigue and labyrinthine plot points of the series, starring James Spader as the enigmatic, morally ambiguous international-criminal-turned F.B.I. asset Raymond Reddington, will expand itself with one the character's most unsafe rivals!

According to THR, even if the spinoff gets greenlit and moves forward it is unclear if it will come this broadcasting season.

"The Blacklist" planted pilot marks the second continuation of a franchise at NBC this TV season, joining "Chicago Law", which Variety was first to report is in the works at NBC.

While its initial feverish popularity has somewhat waned, NBC's The Blacklist continues to be a steady ratings performer. But, this will probably be finalized in May after the airing of the backdoor pilot.
