New poll: Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders too close to call in Missouri

Yes, he said, Sanders will win certain states (as he did in MI last week), but the schedule of primaries and their rules (Florida is winner-take-all whereas MI was proportional) continues to favor to Clinton.

More than 1,000 delegates in both parties are at stake Tuesday when Florida, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina and OH vote.

Political news out of the Prairie State has been defined by upheaval lately, with thousands of protesters in Chicago a rally for Republican frontrunner Donald Trump on Friday in one of the tensest moments of the campaign.

Trump has so far managed to avoid any damage from the controversies that have engulfed his campaign from the start. And can anyone defeat Trump outside of Ohio? Analysts say if Kasich loses the OH primary, he will end his run for the White House.

"Not all, but nearly every poll has shown that Sanders versus Trump does a lot better than Clinton versus Trump", Sanders said at the Democratic debate in Flint, Mich., last week.

If he wins them all, Republicans will be down to a last hope of somehow denying Trump the delegates he needs and driving the race into Cleveland in a contested convention. "Let's make sure tomorrow we have a high voter turnout". He'll hold another election-night news conference - guaranteeing wall-to-wall coverage - where he could try to drive his foes out of the race.

The contests in OH and Florida have long loomed as a potentially decisive showdown for Republicans because, unlike previous 2016 clashes that awarded delegates on a proportional basis, the two powerful swing states are holding winner-take-all contests.

Ironically, in 2008 it was Clinton supporters vowing to stay home-or vote for John McCain-if Obama became the nominee. (The site wasn't able to model Missouri because of a dearth of polling.) Rubio has just a 2 percent chance of winning his home state of Florida when looking at recent state polls; his chances increase to a still-insufficient 10 percent when national polls and endorsements are factored in.

So far, Rubio has wins in Minnesota, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia to show for himself. And while Missouri borders Trump territory in the South, it also borders states where Cruz has won: Oklahoma, Kansas and Iowa. Sanders would need to win 54 percent. His approval was even lower among minority voters, whose support Clinton is counting on in her primary fight with Sanders.

Sanders on Saturday charged Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a Clinton ally, with being "indebted to Wall Street and big money interests". He would also have to win decisively in Washington state (March 26), Wisconsin (April 5), New York (April 19), Kentucky and Oregon (May 17), New Jersey and California (June 7).

Now all eyes are on whether he can outperform polling once again, particularly in states that are near MI, like OH and IL, and have similar levels of white, pro-union, working-class voters who have been receptive to Mr Sanders's economic populism and anti-trade-deal rhetoric.

By Wednesday morning USA time, Mrs Clinton and Mr Trump may have built near insurmountable leads in their nomination contests.

"I think she understands that the momentum in this campaign and the energy is with us, and that we have a good chance to win a number of states on Tuesday", Sanders said in an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union".

The Clinton camp is banking on the former secretary of state's edge with minority voters to put large delegate hauls in the bank in North Carolina and Florida.

An Andre Schuerrle goal allowed Wolfsburg to beat Belgian champions Gent 1-0 at home to complete a 4-2 aggregate victory. After setbacks in terms of "Blancos" staff shortages gathered by issuing two consecutive victories.

But in charging forward, the Sanders camp also acknowledged it isn't banking on victories in any of five closely watched primaries by margins large enough to overtake Clinton's commanding lead in delegates before June.

A distant third in delegates, Rubio compared Trump to third-world "strongmen", and said the tone of the campaign "is really going to do damage to America". She is pregnant with her second child, a point that Chelsea Clinton highlighted as she ticked off her mother's views on various issues.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz argues that only he can keep Trump from reaching the required majority, while Florida Sen. Tuesday's five contests were projected to be the final straw that broke the campaign of Vermont's Independent Sen. "Reason is, Trump because he's not a paid politician and the American people are leaning more toward they're sick and exhausted of politicians", said Saad, a quality manager for a logistics company.

"I have my birth certificate ready, in triplicate", Clinton said with a laugh.

Establishment Republicans may never like Cruz. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., waves to supporters as he leaves the stage after a rally in Charlotte, N.C., Monday, March 14, 2016.

Cruz's argument is about electability.

With 691 delegates at stake, Tuesday's contests offer Clinton an opportunity to net a big chunk of delegates, putting her on an unobstructed path to the nomination.

The two candidates are the frontrunners to be nominated this summer. "We've got to stand up and end these inequities", she said . But contests in North Carolina and Florida, two states where voters have the option of voting early, posed a tougher challenge.
