Pistachios recalled in Washington for Salmonella threat

The pistachios that could be at risk, can be identified by "a 13-digit lot code number, which can be found on the lower back or bottom panel of the package". Two people have been hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the pistachios, also sold under the brand names of Paramount Farms and Trader Joe's, have been recalled by the grower. Ill people range in age from 9 years to 69, with a median age of 31. There were two cases in Arizona and Washington.

According to the CDC, cases have occurred in nine different states, including Washington, Arizona, North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Connecticut, Virginia, Georgia and Alabama.
